accounting is not my thing

I don’t want to rant about personal stuff too much, but man accounting sucks. It’s been nothing but stress me out and take up most of my free time. And don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty skilled mathematically, I’ve gone through calculus and statistics and owned those courses. Accounting though…I just don’t have the mindset for it.

Anyway, couple things to announce. First off, the Martinelli company liked the photo I took of their sparking lemonade. Pretty cool awesome to get recognition like that, good sign that I’m on the way up. I’m going to start working on more product shots and adding a dedicated section to my portfolio for it once I get a good collection together (I dunno why I hadn’t thought of this earlier).

And in case you missed it, here are the shots of Danny from last week. These turned out pretty awesome, they really show the difference a few well placed strobes can make.  Light is the most important element in photography and when you can manipulate it, you can do anything.

Money Matters – Why CSi? Part 1

Regardless of the priority money has in your life, you cannot deny its role in modern day society. You will not survive long without an income of some kind (unless of course you’re a mountain man survival expert who lives in the Rockies, hunting and growing your own food…in which case how are you on the internet viewing this page now?). Bottom line, money is important and there isn’t a single hard working person out there who enjoys just throwing it away.

Keeping this in mind, CSi strives to be as straight forward about services and prices as possible. Many photographers and studios are not. More often than not they split their fees into session/retainer fees and packages. So in other words, those summer specials for senior photos for only $75-100 a pop only cover the shooting time. When it comes to actually getting your hands on your photos, be prepared to drop at least another $100+ extra for a package of predetermined prints and if you’re lucky, a few digital copies so you can make your own prints without having to go through the photographer.

Clean Shot Imagery stepped into the game to change that and give people something more. The prices listed on this website are a one time deal. You pay one fee and it covers everything from reserving a time slot to receiving the final product. The only time you’re charged more is if you want more.

High school seniors are given 10 retouched photos on an image CD plus a 2 print unit credit (1 unit = one 8.5×11, two 5x7s, three 4x6s, four 3.5x5s or 9 wallets). Couples and families are given all the final retouched session images plus a 3 print unit credit per service hour. CSi offers additional printing services, although it does not require clients to buy anything outside the initial service fee in order to get their photos.

Compare CSi prices to those of the competitors and you’ll find that CSi comes out overall cheaper from $50 up to a few hundred dollars. Compare what you get from CSi to what you get from the competitors. CSi gives more prints and digital files than anyone else. 10+ digital images (depending on session type) for your own noncommercial use and up to 3 print units per service hour versus most studios and individuals who only sell prints or a mere 1 to 5 digital files to their clients via a separate package fee.

In conclusion Clean Shot Imagery gives you studio quality products at less than studio prices, and that is reason number 1 for why you should choose CSi.

Long week, slow updates

This week has been difficult to say the least. I’ve been MIA due to a family emergency and for some reason or another my computer decided that USB ports are stupid and unnecessary, so I’ve had to scramble to find a non USB mouse and keyboard. The worst is over now though. Expect to see more new content more frequently, especially now that the weather is clearing up to the point where we’re getting some sunny days.

Keep it real

keep it simple, stupid.

It seems to me that many photographers get carried away and make their transactions overly complicated. Fees on fees on fees.

Yeah forget that. Not only is it a terrible way of attracting customers, it’s also a pain in the ass to keep track of everything.

So I’ve gone through and changed things. The fee you see on the sessions pages is the one and only thing due, unless you plan on ordering more stuff.
